Phew! What a year 2020 has been!  If you would have told me in January all that was about to happen, I would have told you you were crazy!  The Coronavirus has changed the way we all live our lives; from the places we go, to the people we see, to school, and work, and everything in between!  I know for my family, this pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives, and I can imagine it has for your family too!

As fall approaches, more and more parents are thinking about what might happen at the beginning of this school year.  They may have questions such as, “will my child go back to school full-time?  Will they be in school part-time?  Will we continue to learn online?  Will I need to send my child to child care?”

Many school districts are creating plans to help keep kids safe going back to school, but there are still many unknowns.  For parents whose children receive special education services, their district’s back-to-school plan might have them wondering, “What will my child’s therapy services look like this school year?  Will we continue to get the same services we had before the pandemic?  Will my child do therapy in person or online?  Is my child going to fall behind?”

My heart goes out to each parent who has these questions and more!  I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how I can help make this transition back to learning easier for both parents and for kids.  I want to make sure no child falls behind!

I have been back at Apogee since June 1st, and I am providing both in-person and online speech therapy services each week for any child who needs them!  Children with IEP’s are welcome here at Apogee and I enjoy collaborating with public school SLP’s to help those children work on their goals both at school and in the clinic.

We at Apogee are following all Coronavirus guidelines, and can ensure the safety of each of our clients through our rigorous cleaning, health checks, social distancing, and mask wearing. If you would like more information about how I can assist with your child’s speech therapy for the 2020 school year, please give me a call!  I would be happy to talk with you about your goals and help set your child up for success, so they can reach their peak performance!
